Without having any insider information probably hardly anybody would expect Sydney Harbour to be a quite reasonable fly fishing spot. Australian Loop Team member Gavin Davis showed me during my stopover in Sydney, that his home water in the middle of the 5 million metropolis provides excellent possibilities to target surface predators at certain times of the year. Gavin tried to guide me into a slam(Australian Salmon, Tailor and Kingfish) but as everywhere in Australia this year nature is delayed a month. So only a few kings had been caught so far and the best spot was out of reach for us because of the heavy wind blowing there. Nevertheless the gulls lead us to the fish and so it took not too long until the first hunter was landed on a Surf Candy. Thanks Gavin! It was an exceptional morning fishing in front of this spectacular scenery.
