In the late autumn it gets colder and calmer at the banks of the mighty Prealps Rivers rivers. Many grayling and trout fishermen have already winterized their fly rods and the crowds of strollers have disappeared, too. The returning calmness in the water and along the banks is the start signal for the Huchen fishermen to give it a first try. Especially when the water level is low, huchen are easy to worry because nothing escapes their big eyes. That means that the calm on the water increases our chances and the hucho season begins. The last hucho season ended very well for me and I was excited to see how the new season would start. It started the way it had stopped - a beautifully coloured fish couldn't resist my unweighted streamer.
