Right before moving from Australia to New Zealand I was asked if I would like to deliver the speech at the Christmas Dinner of the largest fly fishing club in New Zealand. I was very astonished but also happy and honored to get that opportunity. So I agreed as I am always interested in contacts with local fly fishers and to speak with them about their experiences. So I joined the Aucklands Freshwater Angling Club's Christmas dinner. I spoke to the audience, compared their waters to ours, spoke about untouched nature in comparison to waters in very crowded regions and the problems of fishing waters in Europe. After the speech we had an interesting discussion as the members had many questions. They have a lot of nature in New Zealand but have also got their problems with the farming of sheep and especially cattle. After the discussion I did a short ppt presentation about grayling fishing with mice patterns in Russia. It was a beautiful evening with extremely nice and friendly people. With some of them I would meet again in the following days at the club's lodge in Taurangi to fish the famous Tongariro River.
