fly fishing for grayling with Günter Feuerstein

An autumn like a dream! Deep blue sky, pleasant temperatures, good water levels. Of course conditions like this invited me to fish other than my home waters in the Rhine Valley, too. I was fishing the Steyr Grünburg, the Gmundner Traun, the Vöckla and the Drava River at two weekends. The fact that four grayling beyond the 50 cm mark took my nymphs, was exceptional and sensational at the same time. The three largest fish were between 54-56 cm in length. What superb graylings!

But not only these beautiful rivers in Upper Austria and Carynthia but also my beloved Alpine River Rhine made me happy with the catch of a really good "whitefish"(Coregonus lavaretus - we call them Felchen) of 49 cm at the end of September. Guess on which fly? My famous Pin-Ki nymph! Here are some pictures of these exceptional fish.
